I've been having some consistent results myself this term with limited time, but when red hot conditions had the deep pit fish cruising at long range I thought there was no chance for a bite on the bottom so was well pleased when this chunky old dark common took a liking to the Bacteria and eventually rolled over the net cord at first light, made packing up for work a bit easier...
