PB’s Galore at Orchid
Written by Hatman

Just got back from a top 4 day session at Orchid Lakes. We got there Thursday morning to find a relatively quiet lake. We decided on the Middles & New Middles as we knew from the catch reports that the Dead Dog swim had been producing.

The weather was really grim when we got there - lots of wind and rain, but fortunately the carp gods were smiling upon me and that Thursday night I managed 3 carp;

1. 24lb 8oz

2. 23lb 8oz

3. 24lb 6oz

On Friday night / Saturday early morning I had another 3 carp;

4. 22lb 8oz

5. 24lb

6. 28lb 10oz (PB common)

After the awesome common at 6am Saturday I lost one a 9am. My swim quietened down and the carp moved out. Unfortunately being a bank holiday weekend it got extremely busy (there were only 3 swims free on the whole lake!).

Thankfully Jay's swim started to produce a few takes and he managed to bag a beautiful 29lb 8oz common.

7. 29lb 8oz

There was no more action for me then until Sunday evening. Thankfully the banks got a little quieter with anglers going home and we had a good rain shower that got the fish going again. Sunday evening I managed to land another 3 fish;

8. 18lb 6oz

9. 26lb

The last was the smallest, greediest common I've ever caught. It looked about 2lb, if that! It had managed to take an 18mm snowman topped with a 15mm popup!

Everyone we met were sound and really helpful. A fantastic 4 days fishing with a new PB common!

All fish were taken on Scotty’s Crab & Oyster.

Thanks,

Hatman
