Serpentine session brings Big Lin to the bank |

I managed to sneak a session in today as work cancelled my overtime, and boy, am I glad!
I got to my chosen peg on the Serpentine just before first light and settled in. I noticed after a few hours that the fish were holed up in a different area and decided to make the move. Three hours later, the alarm screams a one-toner, the reel goes into meltdown and the right hand rod is nearly bent double!
There then followed a fantastic twenty-minute battle as line was torn from the reel and I tried to gain control - I have never had a fight like it! It was only when she came to the net that I realised just what was on the end of my line and my legs went to jelly!
At the 3rd attempt I managed to net her - the Big Lin!
A little down in weight at 27lb 8oz, but this mattered not one little bit, I had been very fortunate to catch such a historical and stunning fish and it’s still not really sunk in.

The missus said ‘is that it for fishing now then?’ Forgive her, for she knows not what she says!!
The fish fell to the mighty crab 'n oyster (In Scotty We Trust!). Many thanks to the young lad who was passing and did the pictures for me, I never even got your name in all the excitement.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the picture of a day I will NEVER forget!
